‘bLue trAin’
Adleta Galleries is pleased to maintain the show, ‘bLue trAin’ on-line. Please browse the show and if you have any questions please write Don Adleta at adletainamst@yahoo.com. The show, while hanging at the gallery, consisted of drawings and paintings by the internationally known, post-minimalist artist and Chauncey, Ohio resident, Guy Goodwin. The show, ‘bLue trAin,’ ran from May 16th through the 4th of July weekend, 2003.

Guy Goodwin
developed his work in New York City from 1965 until he moved his main studio to Chauncey, Ohio in 1995. His early constructed paintings were the beginning of an ongoing dialogue surrounding the physicality of painting. Guy has indicated that his move to Chauncey inspired a profound change in his work. At that point he began exclusively using the color blue in his paintings. This can be seen in 'bLue trAin' at Adleta Galleries. The montaged drawings and watercolors he will show range from 22"x30"to 30"x40". These drawings will be complimented by two of Guy's blue paintings: Chauncey Flats, Fall, which is 92"x72"and Sun Home which is 58"x40". The paintings that complement the Chauncey Flats' Four Seasons can be seen at GoodwinSeasons. The new paintings which are a part of the Tracers series can be seen at GoodwinTracers.

Guy Goodwin has exhibited extensively in New York, throughout the U.S., Canada and Sweden. Guy is in the permanent collections of the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Brooklyn Museum, Chase Manhattan Bank, and AT&T, to mention only a few. He has been published in Artforum and Art in America. Guy’s show at Bill Maynes was in the Critic’s Pic in Time Out, New York in ‘98. The degree of national and international interest in Goodwin’s work speaks to the fantastic visual vocabulary of the paintings and drawings he builds. Adleta says, “When considering the dynamic energy of these historically significant pieces of art and the overwhelming success of Adleta Galleries’ previous openings, we anticipate over 400 guests at this opening and after-opening-party.” Don comments on the mission of his gallery in Athens, “With the diversity of art activities in the Southeastern Ohio area, Athens and the region deserve a venue for widely recognized artists.”
